Application Procedures
  1. Go to 'Apply Now' and complete your application.
  2. On submission of your application, an Application Acknowledgement will be automatically generated in which your application number in shown.
  3. Do the following within 7 calendar days after submitting your application:
    1. upload photocopy of academic transcripts (full records of study) of your post-secondary qualifications; certificates of public examination results (including HKDSE & English language qualifications)
    2. Supporting documents for professional qualifications, if any.

To upload supporting documents, please go to the admission website at, click “View/Update Personal Particulars” under the box “Already Applied” and then upload the files in the boxes provided.

Please write your name and application number at the top right hand corner of all documents. Your application will not be processed should the requisite documentation fail to reach the School by the deadline.

Application fee is waived throughout the admission period, i.e. no application fee is required.

Admission Policy

Applicants are not allowed to submit more than one application for PolyU-SPEED award programmes.

Applicants can make as many as 4 choices of programmes on offer and are required to prioritise their choices of programmes. Applications will be processed according to applicants’ preference of study.

General Entry Requirements

A recognised Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.* For specific entry requirements of individual programmes, please refer to the programme information.

Those who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but have reached the age of 25 before 1 September, in the year in which they seek admission, may apply as mature applicants. Mature applicants should possess relevant work experience in senior positions and have completed post-secondary studies in related fields. They will also be required to pass an admission test and demonstrate to the Admission Interview Panel their ability to complete the programme.

* The main medium of instruction of the study programmes concerned should be English. Applicants who have completed programmes with other languages as the main medium of instruction are required to attain the following English Language requirement: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (paper based); 80 (Internet based).

Admission of Non-local Students

"Non-local student" is defined as students holding -
(a) student visa/ entry permit; OR
(b) visa/ entry permit under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates; OR
(c) dependent visa/ entry permit who were 18 years old or above when they were issued with such visa/ entry permit by the Director of Immigration of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)

Non-local applicants who possess only a visitor or tourist visa can neither be registered as students nor commences their studies until they have obtained valid student visas. If one holds a work permit and takes up a part-time programme, he/ she will be regarded as a local student. Throughout the course of study, it is the responsibility of individual students to ensure that their visas are valid.

Non-local students are not eligible for financial assistance of any kind provided by the HKSAR Government. Apart from tuition fee, there will be other expenses such as those for air tickets, accommodation, local transportation, insurance and textbooks.

Selection of Applicants

Applications will be considered on the basis of the information (such as academic, professional qualifications and work experience) provided in the application form. Interview and/or admission test as part of the selection process may be arranged and shortlisted applicants will be notified via email or by phone.

Additional information supplied after the commencement of this process will be considered only if time permits.

Change of Programme Choices

In case the applicants decide to change their indicated choices after submission of their applications, they should submit a written request to the School. The School reserves the right not to consider any requests submitted after the commencement of the selection process.

Verification of Qualifications

The qualifications stated in the form will be verified by checking of the original documents at the time of registration. Provision of any false or misleading information or failure to supply the full documentation for verification will lead to DISQUALIFICATION of the admission application and any offer made will be declared null and void. All fees paid will NOT be refunded.

Announcement of Application Results

Application results will be announced via this Online Admission System. Successful applicants will receive an official notification normally about one month after the closing date for applications via e-mail or by post.

Applicants who do not receive notification by end of August 2020 may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

Cancellation of Programmes

The School reserves the right to cancel any programmes in which case all fees paid by applicants will be refunded.
